Farming and strengthening our rural economy are Lisa's passions. Like many farmers, her father grew grain for the wildly swinging commodities market. His efforts ended in bankruptcy. She learned a lot from that. Lisa and her husband produce hay for small livestock producers here in Polk County.

Lisa has always belonged to and/or worked for co-ops. She and her husband belong to the Cushing and Burnett Dairy Co-ops where they buy seed, feed and farm supplies. LP comes through Federated Co-op and local news through the Inter-County Leader.

​In the winter and after dark, Lisa reads and writes. Her novel "Eureka Valley - Grandfathers' Grandfathers" is set right in the St. Croix Valley and some of the characters operate an organic community supported farm.
